About Muscular Dystrophy, Personal Log April 2008

There are many reasons for this page. While there is much information on Muscular Dystrophy on the Internet and various other places. I wanted to provide a place where much of that information could be located easily.

Let me make it perfectly clear that I am neither a doctor or any other type of health care professional. My only knowledge comes from the fact that I have a form of MD called Friedrich's Ataxia. I have spent some time looking for information and possible treatments which I will share with anyone here.

If you read as much as I have from the conventional medical field you tend to lose hope of a treatment or cure.

My feelings are do as much as you can. I never accept what the doctors tell me and I do things they say I can't do. My younger brother never let his condition stop him as long as he could keep going he did and attempted things even I didn't consider.

I'm afraid there was no way to make this short as there is lots of information here. Some may apply to many people and some only to me. I have to make another point here...I use homeopathic remedies, some people have a very difficult time accepting that and if you are one of the people are unwilling to consider them I would suggest that you not even read any further.
I asked the homeopath one day who is helping me what advice I could give people with one of the forms of MD? His answer was "Get to a good homeopath as soon as possible"

Trying Bell and Calc Carb. Seem to have more problems with Calc Carb.

Tues Apr 1 2008. Feet were okay last night (sensation of being cold but were okay). Stools have been a little more frequent (2 today and 1 last night). Got up twice to urinate through the night. Was sore today but not quite as bad as yesterday. Feet are still swollen but not hurting as bad. Legs still very stiff. No remedy.

Wed Apr 2 2008. Feet were okay last night. Feet still looked swelled when I got up (maybe not quite as bad), at least they didn't hurt. Stomach bothered me all night (sore and pressure), had a stool this morning and it felt a little better. Been having trouble getting myself to work on anything. Left leg still hurts after riding in the car for a little while. Quite a bit of congestion yesterday and today with a loose cough. Still holding off on remedies.

Thurs Apr 3 2008. Feet were very cold last night and took a long time to warm up after going to bed. Stomach started cramping but couldn't go when I went to the bathroom. Up twice to urinate. Arms a shoulders very sore when I got up. Upper legs hurt when standing. Ankles turning worse. Very congested. Last night in bed and a couple of times today got a sharp pain in right foot (inside edge right in the arch). Taking Bell tonight and not taking Calc Carb for awhile.

Fri Apr 4 2008. Left foot warm last night, right foot cold. No ambition today. Stomach has been sore and constipated. Feet swelling was down some today. Very tired all day. Legs still sore when I stand. Ankles maybe didn't turn quite as bad. Waiting a week to take the Bell again unless things get worse again.

Sat Apr 5 2008. Left foot warm and right cold again last night. Pain in right foot just behind big toe (felt like toes pulling up), kept me awake for a long time. Couldn't sleep for the foot pain, sore stomach and a slight headache. Feet swelling wasn't bad when I got up. Have been tired and lazy all day with sinus pressure around eyes and a stiff neck.

Sun Apr 6 2008. Both feet were warm to the touch last night but had the sensation of being cold. Pain in right foot was less. Woke up with cramp in right calf (I think it is an old symptom). Still very sore (shoulders and legs). Still no ambition.

Mon Apr 7 2008. Feet were warm last night, no pain just the covers still feel heavy. Shoulders not as sore but legs still weak and sore. Hit my knee again last night so that is sore to the touch. Had trouble going to sleep last night. Went for a ride on my ATV today but had no ambition to do anything else. Stool was easier today.

Tues Apr 8 2008. Feet were warm last night. Electric sensation in neck and head when I got up (right side), I think it's a pinched nerve. Legs pretty weak today, ankles turning bad in the morning. Left foot swollen bad with a sore spot on outside top a little behind small toe. Very sore when I got up but most likely from riding the ATV yesterday. No stool today.

Wed Apr 9 2008. Feet were just a little cool to the touch last night but had the sensation of being so cold they hurt (burning pain), kept me awake most of the night. Feet have hurt the same way all day today and they are swollen pretty bad. Have had a tough day because of the swelling, discomfort and pain. Left hand started cramping tonight so I increased water intake in case it's a hydration problem.

Thurs Apr 10 2008. Feet were warm last night but still hurt some. Swelling was down a little when I first got up but the later it got the more it felt like they were swelling again with some burning pain. Still sore in shoulders, upper arms and upper legs. Still very difficult to pick feet up. Taking Bell tonight.

Sun Apr 13 2008. Feet were warm when I went to bed but still had the sensation of being cold. Ears ringing very loud. Legs weak and hurt when I would stand and kept giving out on me. Very tired all day, no ambition, mood down. Switching to Bry for awhile.

Mon Apr 14 2008. Feet were cool to the touch but didn't have the sensation of being cold initially. Could not go to sleep and ended up getting up twice to urinate. Still sore today and legs still hurt when I would stand. Sleepy all day. Legs just wouldn't move when I tried to get up. Ears still ringing. Taking a second dose of Bry tonight.

Tues Apr 15 2008. Feet were okay last night. Had some trouble getting to sleep. Legs still weak and sore today. Stomach very sore today with much gas. Ears ringing. Taking third dose of Bry.

Wed Apr 16 2008. Feet had the sensation of being cold after being in bed for a little while. Had trouble going to sleep, right foot hurt. Swelling doesn't seem to be quite as bad although left foot is burning tonight. Still having trouble with stomach, sore but unable to have a good stool. Taking another dose of Bry tonight.

Thurs Apr 17 2008. Feet got cold after being in bed for awhile. Trouble sleeping again (was up 3 times to urinate), stomach sore but no stool. Feet still don't seem to be swelling as bad but they still hurt (left one mainly today), burning pain around toes. Extreme weakness, almost impossible to get in and out of the car or from one chair to another. Ears still ringing (had a short span today when it really intensified). Trying another dose of Bry tonight.

Fri Apr 18 2008. Feet seemed to stay warm last night. Still having trouble sleeping and stomach bothered me all night. Tried having a stool 3 times before I had one today. Legs still very weak and stiff today. Feet were not swelled bad when I got up. Feet still hurting (burning pain), worse left side. Ears ringing, shoulders sore and a sore spot in chest (right breastbone). Can't seem to motivate myself to work. Bry again.

Sat Apr 19 2008. Feet were warm last night, they did hurt some (burning pain). Feet were not swelled bad this morning. Stiff, weak and sore all day. Very tired and sleepy all day with some depression. Chest has been sore on right side. Legs weak and ankles turning. Gas pains and ears ringing. Bry again.

Sun Apr 20 2008. Feet were okay last night, some pain and discomfort, not swelled bad when I got up. Still have the pain in my chest, ears still ringing and legs still weak. No remedy tonight will most likely start the Calc Carb again tomorrow.

Mon Apr 21 2008. Feet were warm last night, hands were cramping before going to bed, woke up twice with left foot cramping then lower right leg. Still have the pain in chest (feels sore like a bruise). Low back has been hurting today. Ears still ringing. Taking Calc Carb tonight.

Tues Apr 22 2008. Right foot got cold after getting into bed. When I woke up neck was very stiff and hurting, upper back around right shoulder blade, legs very weak and sore (I did some resistance exercises yesterday). Had a headache all day. Ears still ringing and chest is still a little sore. Calc Carb again.

Wed Apr 23 2008. Feet were warm but had the sensation of being cold. Had to get up 3 times to urinate which was a problem because legs were so weak and ankles turning so bad it was very difficult to stand up. Had that electric sensation in the back of my head when I sat up to get out of bed this morning. Legs still feel very weak and right leg keeps jumping. Thinking the Calc Carb isn't doing me any good!

Thurs Apr 24 2008. Feet were warm last night with sensation of being cold (not as bad as night before). Made it through the night without having to get up even though I did wake up a couple of times. Practiced deep breathing when I went to bed. Had electric sensation in head when I got up (again not as bad as yesterday). Left leg gave out when I stood up last night. Right calf sore (like it was cramping while I was asleep). Ears still ringing (worse on right side). Pain in left shoulder blade. Legs still pretty weak. No remedies for now.

Sat Apr 26 2008. Feet felt cold last night, some pain but not the burning pain. Foot has been jumping a little today. Ankles turning (worse on right). Depressed today, no ambition. Ears still ringing but not too bad today. Left foot swelled a little but not as bad as the other day (broke the left foot years ago and it always seems to be swelled more than right).

Sun Apr 27 2008. Feet felt cold last night. Left leg weaker and today and kept giving out when I would stand, Right ankle turning. Sleepy all day. Ears ringing very loud. Left wrist pain on and off all day.

Mon Apr 28 2008. Feet felt cold last night. Stool has been watery for the past two days. Woke up with stiff neck and headache. Stomach has been bloated and sore all day. Very sleepy all day. Left leg still weak and right ankle turning. Ears still ringing (worse on right side, louder). Still no ambition. Pain in left forearm (feels like it's right into the bone.

Tues Apr 29 2008. Right foot cold, left foot warm last night. Electric sensation and dizzy when I got up today with stiff neck and headache on right side (in eye). Legs very stiff and weak. Feet were swelled again today. Ears ringing.

Wed Apr 30 2008. Feet were warm last night but right foot had sensation of being very cold around toes. No Matter which side I lay on last night would get a headache after a little while so I had to keep turning over all night. Very difficult to get out of bed today and was even weaker today than before (almost couldn't stand or move). Feet looked swelled again. Ears still ringing. Had a stool finally yesterday but couldn't go today. Bladder was difficult to hold today.
